How it works

How to use the Instagram Video Downloader

Three steps, about fifteen seconds, no account needed.

  1. 1

    Open the video post

This tool is for videos that appear in the feed or on a profile grid, not for reels or stories.

  2. 2

    Copy the post link

Use the three dots above the post and choose Copy link. The link will contain /p/ or /tv/.

  3. 3

    Pick a resolution

Paste it above and the available sizes are listed with their file sizes so you can choose deliberately.

What you get

Tuned for feed and long-form video

  • Any aspect ratio

Feed videos can be square, portrait or landscape. Whatever shape the post was published at is the shape you get back.

  • Resolutions listed plainly

Each option shows its height and file size, so a slow connection or a small phone is an informed choice rather than a surprise.

  • Handles longer posts

Videos running to several minutes take longer to prepare, and the page keeps telling you where it has got to instead of freezing.

  • Finds the video in mixed posts

When a carousel mixes photos and video, the video slides are listed separately so you can take only those.

  • Nothing re-encoded

The file you get is the one the platform serves. It is not compressed again on the way to you, so no quality is lost in transit.

  • Request not retained

Links are processed and forgotten. Nothing about what you downloaded is written down anywhere.

About Instagram feed videos

Feed video is the oldest video format on Instagram and the most varied. It can be square, portrait or landscape; it can run for a few seconds or the best part of an hour; and it can sit on its own or as one slide inside a carousel. That variety is the whole reason this tool exists separately from the reels one.

Reading the format list

After a link is analyzed you will see one row per available file. Each row names the container (almost always MP4), the resolution, and the size in megabytes. The largest resolution is selected for you by default, because that is what most people want, but on a metered connection a smaller row is often the sensible pick.

Carousels with video in them

A carousel can hold up to twenty slides and mix images with video freely. Rather than bundling the whole thing, each slide with video in it is listed as its own option, so grabbing the third slide of a ten-slide post does not mean downloading the other nine.

When a download is the wrong tool

If you want to keep a video to watch later, Instagram's own save feature does that inside the app and keeps the creator's view count and attribution intact. Downloading makes sense when you need the file itself: your own uploads you no longer have a copy of, footage you commissioned, or material you have been licensed to use. Reposting someone else's video as though it were yours is a copyright problem no tool can solve for you, and our terms are explicit about it.

Vertical short-form posts belong in the Instagram Reels Downloader, and image posts in the Instagram Photo Downloader. All three accept the same kind of link, so if you pick the wrong one you will simply be shown what is actually in the post.
